The 2011 Premiers Cup has been taken out by the Brian Guy trained Shuffle the Cash.
Shuffle the Cash, who was being ridden by Luke Nolen for the first time, produced a powerful run at the top of the home straight to beat home Tinseltown and Little Stranger.
The win was the third in a row for Nolen who had won the previous two races of the day aboard Turnitup and Fontelina. It’s almost certain he would have made it four had Black Caviar not been scratched from the Doomben 10,000.
Brian Guy was especially pleased with his charge, given that he was unsure whether the ghostly grey would handle the distance.
“I’ll sit down and have a talk to the owners, he might go to the 2400m after today. We may also take a look at the Ipswich Cup which is in a fortnight’s time,” said Guy.
Guy said that his six year old was a natural racehorse, who just loved to be in work.
“At home in the box he sees the other horses on the walker and he starts squealing and carrying on.”
The Hombre was favourite with Luxbet, although he failed to produce his best, while early pace setters Femina Fashion and Mr Clangtastic trailed off when the field rounded the home straight.
Punters are reminded to take advantage of the $400 free bet currently being offered by Luxbet to all new customers.
