Robert Heathcote’s in-form five-year-old Tabulate ran a sensational Brisbane Cup prep on Saturday when he took out the $125,000 Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) in a gripping finish at Doomben.
Tabulate ($8.50) defeated Albertinelli ($21) right on the finishing line, the margin a mere short-half-head. The blanket finish saw Larry’s Never Late ($6.50) come in third a further short neck away, while early favourite Hissing Sid ($4) was the same length away for fourth.
Heathcote will now send Honours List gelding Tabluate onto the $300,000 Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm in just under a fortnight, as the local trainer hopes for his maiden Brisbane Cup win.
